Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (IPM) was founded in 1959 by a small group of professionals with the objective of developing and promoting the profession of personnel management. The Institute was subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976, and its name was amended by Act No. 31 of 2018 as the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).

CIPM Sri Lanka, the Nation’s Leader in human resource management, signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Peradeniya on 23.11.2023. The key objective of this MoU is to promote and develop the principles, techniques, and practices of Human Resource Management.

“CIPM Signs MoU with the University of Jaffna on 22nd October 2022 at the Jaffna University premises. The CIPM President, Mr Ken Vijayakumar, participated in the event online. Col Saman Jayawickrama, Hony Treasurer, Mr UAC Obeysekere, Chief Executive Officer, and Mr G Weerathunga, Director Professional & Academic Affairs, participated in the event representing CIPM. Prof. S. Srisatkunarajah, Vice Chancellor, Prof. B. Nimalathasan, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, Dr (Ms) T Raveendran Head, Department of Human Resource Management, Prof. N. Kengatharan and other academic staff members participated in the event representing University of Jaffna.” 

CIPM SL had a fruitful discussion on the Development of Human Resources for Sustainable Economic Growth of Sri Lanka with Honorable Manusha Nanayakkara, M.P – Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment with Mr. Ken Vijayakumar – President of CIPM, Mr. Jayantha Amarasinghe – Immediate Past President of CIPM, Mr. Priyantha Ranasinghe – Vice President of CIPM, Mr. Priyankara Seneviratne – Hony. Secretary of CIPM, Mr. UAC Obeyesekere – CEO of CIPM, Mr. G. Weerathunga – Director of Professional & Academic Affairs.

 The discussion was centered on Enhancing Human Resources Management in Sri Lanka aligning with National HRM Standards, Exploring the Utilization of the Gig Economy, Proposal on Reforming Labour Laws, Suggesting a Ministry for Human Resources Management to the Government and Establishing Governing Body for Professional Education in the country.

The meeting was organized with the support of SLBFE International Relations Advisor Mr. Shan Yahampath.

 

CIPM Sri Lanka & Wayamba University signed an MoU at the Wayamba University premises on 14th October 2022. Both parties will jointly work towards conducting various events to develop students and the HR fraternity. There will be joint Webinars, Seminars, Training & Development Programs/workshops, Research & Joint publications which will be of interest to students and the HR fraternity to upgrade their knowledge based in line with emerging global changes.  

Those present on behalf of Wayamba University at the ceremony were the Vice Chancellor Mr. Uditha Jayasinghe, The Dean of the Management Faculty and Academic staff of the University. CIPM was represented by the Chairperson of Technical Committee on Professional & Academic Affairs Dr. Heather Fernando, Council Member Ms. Rajee Ravichandran, CEO Mr. U. A. C. Obeyesekere and Director Professional & Academic Affairs G. Weerathunga.
