Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (IPM) was founded in 1959 by a small group of professionals with the objective of developing and promoting the profession of personnel management. The Institute was subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976, and its name was amended by Act No. 31 of 2018 as the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).

As one of its sustainability initiatives, CIPM SL along with Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka launched a PET plastic collection and recycling program on 26th October 2023 by placing a designated 50 kg recycling bin at Polhengoda Junction near CIPM premises under the guidance of the Chairperson of the Standing committee on Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusivity of CIPM Sri Lanka Ms. Wasanthi Withanage.

The event was graced by esteemed individuals: Mr. Ken Vijayakumar, President of CIPM, Mr. Chrisantha Obeyesekere, CEO of CIPM, Mr. G. Weerathunga, Director of Professional, Academic Affairs.

As the Nation’s leader in HRM, The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management [CIPM] Sri Lanka organized the ‘CIPM Quality Month 2022’ for the tenth consecutive year in sync with the World Standard Day, held on 14th October 2022 to emphasize their constant focus on Academic Quality Assurance & Compliance.

 This year CIPM celebrated its quality month under the theme “Standards for Sustainable Development Goals”. The institute also lined up a series of events and competitions in order to emphasize the importance of quality among its members, employees and students.

 CIPM continually strives to improve its brand image and increase market awareness as a quality-focused institute and aptly organized Poster and Cartoon competitions, Poem and Free Verses competitions, Video, TIK TOK competitions, Puzzle competitions and Quiz Competitions etc.

 All winners of members’ competitions, staff competitions and students’ competitions were rewarded at the CIPM Quality Month Rewarding Ceremony which was held on 04th January 2023 and were presented a valuable gift along with the certificates by the CIPM President – Mr Ken Vijayakumar, Hony. Secretary, Council Members, CEO, Director Operations and Senior Manager Quality Assurance & Compliance.

 The institute was pleased that the ‘CIPM Quality Month’ benefited its employees, stakeholders and students alike by creating quality consciousness among them; also by developing an effective and efficient work environment.

 As a quality-oriented institute, CIPM continues to provide the best professional services to its students, stakeholders and the nation by maintaining and sustaining the highest quality within the institute.

The eighth session of the Coffee with President was held on 6th October 2022 with the participation of twelve members in person, aiming to create a platform for the CIPM members to connect and share their views with the New President of CIPM, Mr. Ken Vijayakumar.

An invigorating seminar on the above topic took place at the OPA Auditorium on the evening of 28th September 2022.  The speaker was Mr. Priyantha Ranasinghe – Vice President CIPM SL & Director Human Resources of Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka who explained key factors which have adversely impacted the Sri Lankan economy resulting in immense suffering of the people. Mr. Priyantha Ranasinghe succinctly described the imbalanced economy and the manner in which the human resource function can contribute to steady the various areas such as productivity, production, motivation, skills & competency development, etc. which can enhance the National economy to a greater level.  

The panel discussion which followed after the keynote address featured Mr. Ken Vijayakumar – President CIPM SL & Deputy General Manager – Human Resources, Administration, Purchasing, and Sustainability at A. Baur & Company (Pvt.) LTD, Mr. Dhammika Fernando – Past President CIPM SL & Executive General Manager of Tropical Findings (Pvt) Ltd, as well as Mr. Priyantha Ranasinghe – Vice President CIPM SL.

A highly appreciative audience posed some important questions which resulted in clear explanations and answers by the panelists followed by interactive discussions with the audience.  

The OPA President Mr. Dulitha Perera contributed strongly to the discussions together with the Vice President – Eng. Saman Kandanearachchi and the General Secretary OPA – Mr. Upali Jayawardena proposed the vote of thanks. CIPM council members and senior staff as well as OPA committee members were present at the deliberations which took place at the seminar.
