Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (IPM) was founded in 1959 by a small group of professionals with the objective of developing and promoting the profession of personnel management. The Institute was subsequently incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976, and its name was amended by Act No. 31 of 2018 as the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).

The meeting was held among CIPM and the Ministry of Labour to conduct a National Survey on Labour Demand. At this meeting, two national-level research project reports conducted by CIPM on ‘Female Migrant Domestic Workers: Challenges and Prospects in Sri Lankan Perspective’ and ‘Attracting Sri Lankan Youth to Technical and Vocational Education: The Way Forward’ were handed over to the Hon. Labour Minister Manusha Nanayakkara by CIPM President Mr. Ken Vijayakumar and Chairperson of the Research Committee Prof. Prasadini Gamage.

CIPM Sri Lanka’s CQHRM Receives Prestigious CIPD UK Accreditation

CIPM Sri Lanka – the Nation’s leader in human resource management recently announced that CIPM’s foremost professional qualification – CQHRM (Chartered Qualification in Human Resource Management) received the accreditation of the prestigious Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) – the UK, the leading professional body for experts in people at work. With hubs in UK, Ireland, Middle East, and Asia, CIPD UK is the career partner of choice for over 150,000 members worldwide. With this, the CQHRM program is fully accredited by the CIPD against the Advanced Knowledge Standards (UK postgraduate Qualifications). CQHRM students will gain Associate membership of the CIPD on successful completion of the course.

CIPM is affiliated with the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resources Management (APFHRM) and the World Federation of People Management Association (WFPMA). CIPM, being a professional institute, is also a constituent member of the Organization of Professional Associations [OPA] Sri Lanka. Currently, CIPM comprises over 1200 Professional Members who serve in both public and private organizations and approximately 8000 students who follow diverse programs on human resource management that are delivered online and through its study centres in Colombo and regional study centres throughout the country.

CIPM Standing Committee on Applied Research and Knowledge Centre successfully conducted its annual research symposium (virtual) on 2nd July 2021 an international level under the theme “Global Crises and Future of Work” with more than 200 participants.

The event comprises of Inaugural Session, Panel Discussion, Technical Sessions under Seven Tracks, Case Study Session and Valedictory Session.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Aquil Busrai, CEO, Aquil Busrai Consulting, India, Prof.(Dr.) Prasadhini Gamage, Mr. Indika Kaluarachchige were grace the occasion.

Panel discussion Moderated by Dr Samantha Rathnayake and the Panel Members were Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri, Dr Samitha perera, Mr. Ken Vijayakumar and Mr. Vajira Ellepola.

Case Study session was Chaired by Mr. Janaka Kumarasinghe and Co-Chaired by Mr Ken Vijayakumar and Mr Priyantha Ranasinghe

Valedictory session was Chaired by Prof. Prasadini Gamage and Winners of the Best Paper and the Best Presenter were announced under each track.

Mrs. Kamani Perera, Manager – Research & Development delivered the Vote of Thanks.

The refurbished Members Lounge of CIPM Sri Lanka was declared open collectively by the President of CIPM SL Mr. Jayantha Amarasinghe and Past President Dr. Lalith Wijetunga on 17th June 2021 in the graceful presence of the Executive Council Members.
